01Respect people
No harassment or bullyingDon't target, insult, stalk, pile on or repeatedly contact someone who doesn't want it โ including from new accounts.
No hateNo attacks or slurs based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age or similar traits.
No threats or violenceDon't threaten, glorify or encourage violence, terrorism or violent extremism.
No doxxingDon't share someone's private information (address, phone, documents, photos) without their consent.
02Keep everyone safe
Zero tolerance for child exploitationAny sexual content involving minors is banned and reported to the authorities. No exceptions.
No unwanted sexual contentDon't send explicit content to people who haven't asked for it, and never share intimate images of others without consent.
No self-harm promotionDon't encourage suicide, self-harm or eating disorders. Supporting a friend who is struggling is always okay.
No dangerous or illegal activityNo selling of drugs, weapons, stolen data or accounts, and no instructions meant to cause serious harm.
If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
03Be genuine
No spamNo mass mentions, unsolicited ads, chain messages, invite spam or flooding channels.
No scams or phishingNo fake giveaways, fake "free premium" links, account-stealing tricks or fraud.
No malwareDon't share viruses, token grabbers, exploits or links that harm devices or accounts.
No impersonationDon't pretend to be another person, a moderator, the BlobChat team or a brand in a misleading way.
04Respect content and creators
- Share only content you have the right to share. Credit creators when you repost their work.
- Don't distribute pirated software, games, films or other copyrighted material.
- Mark spoilers and sensitive media so people can choose whether to see them.
05Bots and automation
- Bots follow the same rules as people. Their owner is responsible for what they post.
- Don't use bots or scripts to spam, scrape members, evade bans or automate regular user accounts.
- Be transparent about what your bot does and what data it stores. See the Developer Portal and the Terms.
06For server owners and moderators
You are the first line of moderation in your community. Helpful tools you already have:
- Server Rules and a welcome message so members know what is expected.
- Roles and channel permissions to control who can view, post, attach files, react or create threads.
- AutoMod โ rate limits, repeated messages, link and mass-mention rules, keyword filters with mask / block, automatic warnings and timeouts.
- Slowmode, timeouts, kicks and bans, plus the Audit Log to see who did what.
Moderate fairly and consistently, don't abuse permissions, and never use your server to organise activity that breaks these guidelines.
08Reporting a problem
Report rule-breaking in a server to its moderators first. For serious issues โ or problems with a moderator, a whole server, or a direct message โ email [email protected] and include:
- links to the messages (right-click a message โ Copy link to message) or the user's @username;
- a short description of what happened and, if helpful, screenshots.
Reports are confidential. We never tell the reported person who reported them.
BlobChat is a young, independent project, so platform-level reports are reviewed personally by the developer rather than a large trust & safety team. Serious reports โ threats, child safety, scams โ are handled first. Day-to-day moderation happens inside each server, which is why owners get strong built-in tools.
09What happens when rules are broken
Depending on how serious a violation is and whether it has happened before, we may:
- remove the content;
- issue a warning or temporarily limit features;
- suspend or permanently ban the account, bot or server;
- report illegal content, such as child exploitation or credible threats, to law enforcement.
Evading a ban with another account leads to a permanent ban. If you think we made a mistake, you can appeal by email โ tell us your username and why the decision should be reviewed.
